About Fremont Street Experience

The Fremont Street Experience is the 5-block pedestrian mall in downtown Las Vegas — five miles north of the central Strip and 15 minutes by van. It covers Fremont Street between Main and Las Vegas Blvd N with a 1,500-ft Viva Vision LED canopy (the largest single video screen on earth, upgraded 2020), the SlotZilla zipline running directly under it, and the original 'Old Vegas' casinos: Golden Nugget, the D, Four Queens, Binion's, and the El Cortez. It's free to enter, free to walk, and the nightly canopy shows happen on the top of every hour from 6 PM. A 12–15 passenger van handles the trip easily and parks in the Fremont Street Experience garage on 4th St.

Why it's worth the drive

Things to do

What groups actually do at Fremont Street

Viva Vision canopy show

Top of every hour after dark — Queen, Bon Jovi, Linkin Park, and themed light shows. Best viewed from in front of the Golden Nugget or under the 3rd Street stage.

SlotZilla 'Zoomline'

Eleven stories up, fly superhero-style the full length of Fremont under the canopy. The lower 'Zipline' is family-friendly and starts at 7 stories.

Golden Nugget + the Tank

Walk through the lobby to see the Hand of Faith (largest gold nugget on display in the world) and check the Tank pool with a 200,000-gallon shark aquarium and a clear waterslide through it.

Heart Attack Grill

Themed burger spot on Fremont — single, double, triple, quad, octuple bypass burgers, free if you weigh over 350 lbs. Photo op, not a meal.

Container Park

Outdoor shipping-container shopping + dining village 3 blocks east of Fremont — anchored by the 'Treehouse' play structure and a 55-ft fire-breathing praying mantis.

Mob Museum

Two blocks north on Stewart Ave — the official National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, in the actual 1933 federal courthouse.

Group + van tips

Driving a 12-15 passenger van to Fremont Street

  • Park in the Fremont Street Experience parking garage at 4th & Carson — accepts Sprinters and Transits, validated discount at most Fremont businesses.
  • Drop-off is easiest at the Main Street west end (Plaza Hotel) — no porte cochère traffic.
  • Fremont is open 24/7 — late nights are noisier and more crowded, family-friendly is generally 11 AM – 8 PM.
  • Avoid 4th Street and Las Vegas Blvd intersections for U-turns — police direct downtown weekend traffic from sundown.

Fremont Street Experience garage at 4th & Carson fits a 15-passenger van. The Plaza, Golden Nugget, and the D garages also accept Sprinters.

When to go

Best time to visit

Year-round; downtown summer afternoons are slightly cooler than the Strip thanks to the canopy shade. New Year's Eve and Halloween are the two biggest events of the year (separate ticketed gates). Las Vegas Helldorado Days (May) and the Downtown Hoedown bring extra programming.

Need a van for the trip?

Our Las Vegas fleet of 12-15 passenger Sprinters and Ford Transits delivers to Harry Reid International (LAS), every major Strip resort, and downtown / Fremont hotel doors.
