About Walt Disney World Resort

Walt Disney World Resort is the largest Disney property in the world, spanning four theme parks, two water parks, and dozens of resort hotels across roughly 25,000 acres in Lake Buena Vista, FL. From downtown Orlando, it's about a 25-minute drive west on I-4 — close enough for a day trip but easier on multi-day visits when you can park a 12-15 passenger van once and shuttle the whole group between parks with Disney's free buses, monorail, and Skyliner.

Group + van tips

Driving a 12-15 passenger van to Walt Disney World

  • Disney resort guests can use complimentary buses, monorails, and the Skyliner — park your van at your resort and ride for free.
  • If you're staying off-property, Disney charges a flat $30/day for standard vehicles at the four main parks (free for resort guests).
  • Magic Kingdom parking is at the TTC; you'll then ferry or monorail into the park — plan an extra 20 minutes each way.
  • Stroller / wheelchair rentals are inside each park entrance, not at the parking plaza.

Standard 12-15 passenger Sprinters and Ford Transits fit standard self-parking at all four Disney parks and at Disney Springs.

Walt Disney World FAQ

How far is Walt Disney World from Orlando?

Walt Disney World is about 21 miles southwest of downtown Orlando — roughly a 25-minute drive on I-4 outside of rush hour. From MCO airport it's about 20 miles / 25 minutes via SR-417 and I-4.

Can a 15-passenger van park at Disney parks?

Yes. Standard Sprinters and Ford Transits fit the standard self-parking lots at all four Disney theme parks and Disney Springs. Oversized RV/bus lots are separate.

Do I need a ticket to enter Disney Springs?

No. Disney Springs is free to enter and to park — you only pay for what you eat, drink, or shop. It's a great group dinner option without a theme-park ticket.

What's the cheapest way to get a group from Orlando to Disney?

Renting a 12-15 passenger van and parking once at Disney is almost always cheaper than rideshare per head, and faster than the Mears Connect shared shuttle.
