About SeaWorld Orlando
SeaWorld Orlando is a marine zoological park and theme park just off International Drive, about 11 miles and 15 minutes from downtown Orlando. It's the only Orlando park where you can see orcas, dolphins, manatees, and rescued sea turtles up close — plus ride some of the most aggressive coasters in Florida (Mako, Manta, Pipeline, Penguin Trek). For animal-loving families and coaster crews, it's an excellent half- or full-day stop.
Why it's worth the drive
- Active marine-rescue program — the park's rehab team has returned more than 40,000 stranded animals to the wild.
- Six major coasters including Mako (Florida's tallest at the time of opening), Manta, Ice Breaker, Pipeline (stand-up surf coaster), and Penguin Trek (2024).
- Smaller and more walkable than Disney or Universal — easier for groups with younger kids or grandparents.
- Tickets are generally less expensive than Disney/Universal, with multi-park bundles for Aquatica and Discovery Cove.
Things to do
What groups actually do at SeaWorld
Orca Encounter
Educational live show featuring SeaWorld's resident orcas — replaced the older theatrical show in 2019.

200-foot hypercoaster — fastest and longest in Orlando.
Manta
Face-down flying coaster with views over a manta-ray habitat.
Sesame Street Land
Toddler-friendly area with rides, splash zones, and meet-and-greets — ideal for under-7 groups.
Dolphin & Manatee Encounters
Walk-through habitats with naturalists answering questions.
Aquatica
Adjacent water park, popular as an afternoon add-on in summer.
Group + van tips
Driving a 12-15 passenger van to SeaWorld
- Standard self-parking is in the main SeaWorld lot — about $30/day, with Preferred and Premium upgrades available.
- Quick Queue (line-skip) is a strong value at SeaWorld vs. the same product at Disney/Universal — worth it for a 1-day visit.
- Discovery Cove (next door) is reservation-only and not part of a regular SeaWorld ticket — book in advance if you want to swim with dolphins.
- The park is genuinely walkable in 4–6 hours, making it a great half-day option if you're combining with International Drive shopping.
12-15 passenger Sprinters and Transits fit the standard self-parking lot.

SeaWorld FAQ
How far is SeaWorld from Orlando?
About 11 miles and 15 minutes from downtown Orlando via I-4. From MCO it's roughly 14 miles / 18 minutes.
Is SeaWorld worth visiting in 2026?
Yes — recent additions like Pipeline (stand-up surf coaster) and Penguin Trek have refreshed the lineup, and the rescue habitats and animal encounters remain unique in Orlando.
How long do you need at SeaWorld?
Most groups do SeaWorld comfortably in one full day, or 4–6 hours for coaster + show highlights. Add a second day if you want Aquatica or Discovery Cove.
Is Discovery Cove included with my SeaWorld ticket?
No. Discovery Cove is a separate reservation-only experience — most packages do include a 14-day SeaWorld + Aquatica ticket, so book Discovery Cove first.
