About this vehicle

The full story on the Chevrolet Express (Low Roof)

The Chevrolet Express is the workhorse of the American passenger van world — built on a body-on-frame chassis with a strong 6.6L V8, it's the budget-friendly choice for groups that don't need leather or a high-roof cabin but absolutely need reliability, capacity, and value.

It's the same vehicle you see running shuttle service at hotels and airports, church groups going on weekend trips, and work crews moving between job sites. There's a reason it's still in production after decades: it's simple, durable, and easy to repair, which is why we can offer it at one of the lowest daily rates in our fleet.

The cabin is utilitarian — bench seating across every row, basic climate controls, a heavy-duty rubber cargo floor in the rear — but everything works, the V8 is strong, and groups arrive comfortable. For straightforward group transportation, it's hard to beat the value.

What makes it stand out

  • Lowest daily rate in our fleet
  • Strong 6.6L V8 — moves a full group with ease
  • Body-on-frame durability — built to handle heavy use
  • Bench seating for up to 12 or 15 passengers
  • Heavy-duty cargo floor — handles luggage, gear, and crew equipment
  • Climate control with rear vents
  • Backup camera standard
  • Easy to drive and easy to park for a full-size van

Driving

GM's 6.6L V8 delivers strong, traditional American V8 power with effortless highway passing and no struggle on grades — even with a full passenger load. The body-on-frame platform is durable and serviceable nationwide, and the driving position is high and commanding. Fuel economy is honest: it's a V8 doing V8 work.

Interior & comfort

Three rows of bench seating with full-size headrests and 3-point belts at every position. Front captain's chairs, basic but functional climate controls, AM/FM radio with available USB and Bluetooth. The interior is durable cloth and plastic — not luxury, but it cleans up easily after a long trip.

Cargo & luggage

Behind the last row of the 12-passenger version, you get around 100 cu ft of cargo room — strong for the size. The 15-passenger version drops to roughly 65 cu ft because the extra row takes up the space. The rear floor is reinforced and stands up to heavy loads.

Best for

  • Budget-conscious group travel
  • Church groups, youth groups, and family reunions
  • Work crews and equipment hauling with a passenger group
  • Local shuttle service and event transportation
  • Anyone who needs 12 to 15 seats at the lowest price possible

Things to know

No leather, no high-roof cabin, and gas mileage is lower than the Sprinter's turbo-diesel. For premium comfort or long-distance fuel efficiency, choose a Sprinter or Ford Transit instead.
